Reknit – Turn your old sweaters into something new!

Have you got an old sweater or two, hanging around in the back of your closet that you’re just not sure what to do with? Well look no further… You can send your old sweater to designer Haik Avanian‘s mom and she’ll unravel it, knit it into something new and send it back to you.

Each month Haik’s mom will Reknit a new and useful object, this month she’s making scarves, but you can vote on what you’d like next month’s object to be — a beanie, socks, an iPod case, or cut-off gloves.

Visit the Reknit website to print out a shipping label for your sweater and get Haik’s mom knitting for you!

First off, sorry for the long gap between posting, I’ve been traveling through Southeast Asia, and it’s been a little hard to motivate myself to search out new crafty and cool things, but don’t worry, I’m back and I’ve got a great new site for the knitter in you!

With fall just around the corner, why not check out one of the DIY kits over at Wool And The Gang and knit yourself something fabulous. Each kit contains a pair of wooden knitting needles, the pattern, a knitter’s sewing needle, a croche hook, and all the yarn you’ll need to make it. Plus you can even choose your colors.

If you need to brush up on your knitting skills there are loads of how-tow videos and sketch demos, which will teach you the basics as well as a few tips and tricks to get you knitting like a pro in no time.

easter craft week day 4: knitted eggs

More eggs! I know everyone is partial to the chocolate variety, but these knitted ones are pretty sweet. Why not mix it up a bit in this year’s Easter egg hunt, and throw in a couple knitted eggs to ease everyone’s sugar high. Or hang them from a couple of branches and make your very own Easter Tree.

artfully crafty music video

This video has been out for quite a while but I recently came across it again and wanted to post it here. Every time I watch it I am totally inspired. The video was shot using stop motion animation and the entire set was made out of yarn, wool, buttons and fabric. The walls, the furniture, the instruments, the recording equipment, even the camera were all knit, sewn or crocheted together.
